The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) is the world's largest professional association of equine veterinarians. The AAEP's mission is to improve the health and welfare of the horse, to further the professional development of its members, and to provide resources and leadership for the benefit of the equine industry.
America’s Healthy Horse is a joint educational initiative of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and Fort Dodge Animal Health designed to raise public awareness about the importance of seasonal wellness exams and professionally managed preventive care for every horse. Officially introduced December 5, 2005 -- at the 51st Annual Convention of the AAEP in Seattle, Washington – the ongoing, national campaign utilizes public service announcements, educational literature, this website and other means to support veterinary-client communications and inform horse owners about equine health basics, trends, emerging issues and – in particular -- the importance of routine wellness exams.
Jessica Schengber(artist), feels that each horse has a different personality and it shows in her artwork. With her pencil she is able to capture each animals individuality. Her portraits are know for their "expression". Jessica was recently commissioned to draw a horse as a Christmas gift by a hunt club in Pennsylvania for one of their members. The club wanted to present the portrait to the horse's owner at a Christmas party. The result was expressed best by club member Carol Gearhart, "Jessica's sketch was so remarkable it brought everyone at the Christmas party to tears!" The owner really loved it, and everyone felt it captured the horse's personality well. Amazing, as Jessica had only seen a few photos!
Jessica has also been commissioned by the Oldenburg Verband in Germany for a portrait of the stallion Placido. The portrait was to be presented to the owner at his retirement ceremony.
The Verband has also commissioned Jessica for a portrait of the famous stallion Donnerhall and his rider Karin Rehbein. The Verband is currently selling prints of that portrait though their monthly magazine. A commission was also received by Ullrich and Bianca Kasselmann of th famed Performance Sales International (P.S.I.).
The Horse is concerned with all aspects of equine health, and it is written for hands-on horse owners, trainers, riders, breeders, and barn managers who want to know more about taking the best care of his or her horses.
